Lo anterior contribuye al estudio de su comportamiento en el mar, lo cual provee conocimientos invaluables para definir las diferentes rutas migratorias y estimar él o los grupos componentes de la población reproductiva. El uso de telemetría nos ofrece un gran apoyo, para responder a preguntas esenciales para el manejo y la conservación de las tortugas marinas, así como comparar nuestros resultados con otras poblaciones de tortugas en el mundo.<br> <br> Considerando la importancia de este tipo de estudios el Gobierno Municipal de Los Cabos, B.C.S. a través de su Programa para Protección de Tortugas Marinas de la Dirección Municipal de Ecología, con el apoyo de la Alianza WWF-Telcel y CONANP, en el año del 2009 dieron inicio al al proyecto “TRAS LA RUTA DE LAS TORTUGAS GOLFINAS .... !!!”, debido a la poca información con la que se cuenta para esta especie con respecto a sus movimientos y rutas migracionales en Los Cabos, los datos que se obtienen del seguimiento de las tortugas que son estudiadas, podrán servir de base para futuras decisiones en cuanto a conservación y manejo. <br> <br> El 10 de noviembre del 2016 el H. XII Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos, Hotel Hilton Los Cabos y La Organización para la Sustentabilidad y Conservación del Medio Ambiente, AC dan continuidad al proyecto de seguimiento vía satélite liberando en las Playas de San José del Cabo, BCS a una tortuga hembra adulta a la que le fue instalado un transmisor satelital y fue llamada BELLA”.<br> <br> Aunado al seguimiento El Programa de Protección a la Tortuga Marina del H. XII Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos, BCS con la ayuda de El Grupo Tortuguero de Las Californias, AC dan continuidad a un proyecto educativo en el cual a través del seguimiento satelital de esta tortuga se realizaran actividades que están diseñadas principalmente para los niveles de primaria y bachillerato, y que pueden ser adaptadas para niveles superiores o inferiores. Todas y cada una de las actividades han sido correlacionadas con los programas de estudio de la Secretaría de Educación Pública. Además, muchas son interdisciplinarias e incluyen español, matemáticas, historia, ciencias sociales, así como conocimientos y habilidades científicas.<br> <br> Las actividades están diseñada para realizarse independientemente, durante el seguimiento de BELLA” a través de internet o simplemente como una experiencia posterior. Cada actividad presenta al inicio una o varias preguntas que promueven la participación de sus alumnos en una lluvia de ideas, para despertar interés en el tema, para fomentar el hábito de la investigación, para permitir que sus alumnos compartan con los demás lo que ya saben, para que hagan más preguntas y juntos busquen las respuestas y disfruten del proceso Enseñanza - Aprendizaje, recordando siempre que el proceso de llegar a una conclusión es tan importante como la conclusión misma. Con esto BELLA” se convierte en una invaluable tortuga no solo para conocer su biología, sino para ayudarnos a enseñar dentro de las aulas.
